Start Your Own Campaign

We’re here to help you develop and amplify your own World Milk Day campaign. Here are some tips to get started:

The campaign can be just on June 1 – such as an in-person event – or last for a month or more, as in a paid media campaign.

We ask that you feature the dairy sector or dairy products at your event and in your visuals and posts.

Follow the World Milk Day/Global Dairy Platform social media platforms so you can interact with us while your campaign is on social media.

Make references to World Milk Day using @WorldMilkDay on X and the hashtags #WorldMilkDay & #EnjoyDairy. Let us know how it goes! Please send us your WMD Campaign Results.

We’re sharing notable World Milk Day campaigns from 2024 to help inspire your own for 2025 and beyond. Here are some of the best of the best, in each of the four main campaign categories:
  • Milk Day/Milk Month in Japan

    J-milk organized a collaboration between Milk Day/Milk Month in Japan and World Milk Day. Projects included Smile Project for Milk and Saturday and Sunday Milk, which were disseminated widely. There was a special website to help people post on social media, and the response helped make Japan one of the most engaged countries in the world for WMD.

  • DeLaval’s Cowfies Campaign

    To mark World Milk Day 2024, DeLaval Corporate launched the Cowfie campaign across its social media platforms, inviting employees, customers, dealers, and followers to share their “cowfies.” The response was overwhelming, with more than 80 submissions that celebrated a collective passion for dairy farming and underscored the essential role cows play in our lives.

  • Kerrygold Nigeria Milk Party

    The Bord Bia X Kerrygold Nigeria World Milk Day Campaign was a resounding success, celebrating the theme “Enjoy Dairy” to emphasize the importance of dairy in nourishment. The campaign combined engaging digital teasers and product giveaways with an interactive two-day “Everything Milk” Party at Ikeja City Mall, Lagos. Highlights included creative milk-themed recipes, fun games, and tastings of Kerrygold milk products, fostering strong audience engagement and reinforcing Kerrygold as a beloved dairy brand.

  • Celebrating World Milk Day in Ireland

    The National Dairy Council (NDC) Ireland celebrated World Milk Day at Bord Bia Bloom on Saturday 1st June, 2024. By activating at Bloom, the NDC leveraged the event’s captive audience of more than 100,000 Irish consumers. The success of the campaign was largely due to the variety of activities that attracted, engaged, entertained and educated audiences.

  • Dairy Farmers of America World Milk Day

    Through this campaign, DFA not only celebrated World Milk Day but also reinforced its dedication to the long-term success of the dairy community, fostering a deeper understanding of the cooperative’s commitment to both quality products and the well-being of future generations.

  • Dairy Farmers of Canada

    Dairy Farmers of Canada’s campaign involved a variety of partners and industry stakeholders, working on various digital platforms to amplify the national voice of the dairy sector. In one partnership, Dairy Farmers of Canada teamed up with Tree Canada / Arbres Canada to plant a tree for every social media repost.

  • Initiative Milk’s “Hallemuhjah”

    Initiative Milch/Milk Initiative, a German milk marketing program funded by the country’s dairy industry, attracted a lot of positive attention with its video-led World Milk Day campaign featuring a man breakdancing to a German-language cover of Dr Alban’s hit “Sing Hallelujah.”

  • Dairy Australia’s Powered by Milk

    Dairy Australia led a nationwide marketing approach that aimed to celebrate the important role milk plays in powering regional dairy communities and powering strong healthy bodies at every age. The Powered by Milk theme highlighted how milk powers local jobs and the economy, powers strong bones and teeth in childhood, powers active adults by rehydrating, refueling, and repairing muscles, and powers older Australians to stay active with strong bones.

What We Did in 2024

The global dairy sector came together online and in-person to celebrate World Milk Day in 2024, showcasing that dairy is an accessible, affordable, and nutrient-dense food, and an essential part of balanced diets across the world.

Raise a Glass to a Successful 2024!

The digital campaign, which involved more than 100 countries from Australia to Zimbabwe, resulted in more than 924.4 million impressions and a record 2.7 million engagements on a variety of platforms.

Through farmer videos, in-person events, farm tours, virtual campaigns, and new partnerships, the dairy sector showcased its dedication to delivering nutritious and sustainably made dairy products to their communities.

Using #WorldMilkDay and #EnjoyDairy hashtags, the global dairy community, government officials and international associations highlighted that dairy supports healthy diets and sustains livelihoods worldwide.
