World Milk Day was established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations to recognize the importance of milk as a global food and to celebrate the dairy sector. Since then, the significance and benefits of dairy and dairy products have been actively promoted annually on World Milk Day around the world. It is pertinent to mention here that the Dairy & Livestock Sector of Pakistan has potential to employ 60 million people and currently, livelihood of more than 10 million families is connected to milk processing companies. Altogether Pakistan produces approximately 60 billion litres of milk per annum and has a potential to double the production through increasing milking yield per animal. Moving forward, Innovations in Dairy Industry of Pakistan are the need of hour for progress and development.
The National Alliance for Safe Food (NAFS) is a leading organization and Pakistan’s largest Food Professionals network striving for safe & nutritious food production and consumption for betterment of human society by training and educating consumers and manufacturers. Annually, NAFS PAKISTAN celebrates the World Milk Day campaign with the support of Development Organizations, Academic Institutes, Food Regulatory Authorities, Chambers of Commerce, Civil Society Organizations and Food Industries. It provides a platform to bring attention to the importance of Dairy industry, business opportunities, nutrition, food safety & human health and sustainable management of food resources.
Pakistan Dairy Association (PDA), is the representative body of forward looking dairy farmers and milk processors of the country. More than 90% of the packaged dairy products sold in Pakistan are produced by PDA members. In addition to delivering safe and healthy dairy products to the consumers, PDA members are the only private sector companies assisting the dairy farmers to improve quality and quantity of milk produced while providing them access to the market through a structured supply chain. Moreover, PDA provides a forum to dairy sector and allied agro fields, professionals as well as farmers, for the determination of knowledge and ideas in Research & Development, production, processing and marketing. It works to establish strong backward & forward linkages amongst the stakeholders in private as well as public sector and livestock farmers.

World Milk Day provides the perfect opportunity to spread the message of the importance of milk for a balanced diet, and as breakfast remains the ultimate meal of the day, it provides the biggest consumption opportunity for milk in several parts of the world. In celebration of this year's World Milk Day event, Peak Milk intends to creatively revive the dwindling breakfast culture of Nigerians and drive knowledge of dairy nutrition via its World Milk Day breakfast rally campaign. The Brand will be developing a fictional character of authority, 'The Peak Breakfast Marshall’, who will be responsible for 'mass arrest' of breakfast defaulters across Nigeria. Defaulters will be 'arrested and released' with a pack of nutritional Peak Breakfast and a commitment pledge to never miss breakfast going forward. Peak Milk aims to feed at least 11,000 Nigerians nourishing breakfast on June 1 across several locations in Nigeria like Lagos, Enugu and Kano.
